Thanks to the support from the Ministry of Education and Science, study-year 2009./2010. will be the first one, when in the Republic of Latvia ther will be started the acquisition of the general secondary education in a form of extramural studies — distance education. From the study year 2010./2011.  also elementary education will be offered.
The target audience of our secondary school is any person, who has discontinued his/her studies and would like to resume them, obtaining the elementary or general secondary education. In order you could ensure your competitiveness in the labor market and to achieve your goal to enter a college or a higher educational establishment, our secondary school offers you to continue your studies at grades 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12.

Riga Distance Education Secondary School is a private educational establishment. It is established on the basis of my experience I obtained, while working at College of Business Administration (CBA) as a project manager and a lecturer. CBA is the only college in the Baltic States, which offers the first level higher professional education through distance education. Thus Riga Distance Education Secondary School, in some way, is established on the base and experience of CBA. Of course, there was also studied the experience of neighboring countries concerning the distance education. Thus, at Oza Secondary School in Vilnius by means of the financial support of the European Union since 2006 there had been developed the programme of distance education for students from grade 7 till grade 12. Namely, there had been an electronic study file for each subject, which a studeny can acquire independently. At present 350 students have applied for such studies.

Particular co-operation and interest about the educational opportunities offered to people from Latvia, who now live in Ireland, had been shown by Renars Danelsonss, the temporary charge d’affaires, and Jelena Lobzova, the first secretary of the Embassy of Latvia in Ireland.
